SCFG > System > Loadable Modules, and look at "Read Mail", "Scan Msgs", "Scan Subs", and "List Msgs" - Is that what you're looking for?
Yes, this is the section that contains what I need to change.
Currently these values are:
../xtrn/DDMsgReader/DDMsgReader.js
What should I use to change them back to the default?

For quite some time now I seem to be missing messages from time to time in some areas.
This seems to occur a lot more often after I add an echo to a message group.
This issue is hard to track down because it is hard to pick up the exact behavior.
I know I am missing messages because when I do a qwk download of messages there are messages being pulled down that I know I have not read yet. The message pointers seem to be messed up in some ways over the entire message base.
One way I can sometimes get things back into shape is to browse to an area and read the last message.
When reading messages in an echo how do I go to the last message in an echo so I can mark all of them as read and work my way into the next echo in my reading process?
Hi,
This seems to be a pointer issue because when I enter the echo from the echo list I see all messages in the area.
Just the read / unread message counts are off.
What seems to be occuring here is there are new messages in an echo but after I add an echo to a group the last message read pointers seem to be not tracking properly.
There are new posts in an area but the reader isn't picking them up on a scan. If I enter an area directly sometimes the post I am reading is the last one and sometimes it isn't.

So, it sounds like the issue is happening after you add a new message sub-board to a message group?
Also, when replying to a message, it would help to quote the part of the message you're replying to - That helps the reader (me in this case) remember the conversation better when reading replies.

Yes this seems to be the case.
Also when I browse to an area directly to read messages it seems like the pointers in all areas on the system are messed up in some way, not just the areas in the group that I modified.

What happens if you add a new sub-board and then do a newscan with the stock Synchronet reader? Does it behave similarly regarding the pointers and new messages?

I just pushed some changes that should hopefully fix or at least improve issues with newscans and message pointers (with the help of Cursor AI). I'm curious if the changes help the issue you're seeing too. When the change has been merged, please update & give it a try. You can see merge messages in the Dove-Net Programming sub-board.
The default message reader works fine after group adds. One thing that may be causing issues is that when you use the stock reader you have a view of the total number of messages in the area and in your reader it only shows what is new only and not the total count.

When doing a newscan, yes, it only shows the number of new messages; when reading normally (not as a newscan), it will show the total number of messages in each area.
