So far so good but I plan to do more testing before committing to it.
I am booted to it as we speak.
The current plan is to give it a couple days and see what is what then.

Hey Alan!
WHOA!!! Big problem thought you might keep an eye out for. The latest lfs's "8.78. Udev from Systemd-259.1" is evil. I reverted back to the last stable version according to lfs's "Version 12.4" is "8.76. Udev from Systemd-257.8" and that took care of the hardware errors I was seeing - memory, sata and usb but there might have been more I didn't notice. Also returned back to the linux-6.18 branch as shown below.

Linux version 6.18.10 (root@bitskii) (gcc (GCC) 15.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.45.1) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Feb 12 00:08:19 UTC 2026

My only SysV machine is the BBS machine.
LFS-systemd versions with glibc-2.43 and systemd-259.1. Both are
running without issues, mostly.
I read that LFS 13.0 will not include SysV because of issues with
gnome and I think kde too.
Everything here, running 24/7 or otherwise, is sysv based. Not sure if I'll bother with with a systemd machine given that even with a gui onboard it will ever get much use. I live on the commandline and was highly unimpressed with systemd the last time I tried.

I am impressed. I may have to try that soon.

I have neither so I am guessing I might be able to avoid that version. Who knows, I might go back to slackware if I am no longer able to keep up with the pace, especially over any gui applications. I find gui's too boring.
Anyhow thank you for the heads up and hopefully I can quickly resolve the udev issue soon. If not then ?????
Systemd is more than just an init system as SysV is. I'm not sure
if that's a good thing.
I seem to be past them now.
The issue is that gnome and kde are designed to work with systemd.
it is getting harder and harder to do.
I wonder if Pat has or will come up with a way to continue on with
SysV.

Last time I checked slackware still had the best console bar none and it was sysv/eudev based.
I have a slackware 15.0 partition that I haven't booted for quite a
while.
I haven't heard a peep about it either and I doubt I ever will.
