• Synchronet having trouble with long filenames or some specific charact

    From Nigel Reed@1:103/705 to GitLab issue in main/sbbs on Wed Jan 7 14:38:35 2026

    I'm trying to download a recently added file.

    ```
    Jan 7 16:34:19 bbs synchronet: term Node 1 <nelgin> Executing external: /sbbs/exec/sexyz 40 -raw sz "/nfs/bbs/totaldos/1982/21 (1982)(PCC, Inc.) [Strategy].zip"
    Jan 7 16:34:19 bbs synchronet: term Node 1 <nelgin> sexyz: !/nfs/bbs/totaldos/1982/21 (1982)(PCC, Inc.) [Strategy].zip not found
    ```

    The file exists, obviously,

    ```
    # ls -l "/nfs/bbs/totaldos/1982/21 (1982)(PCC, Inc.) [Strategy].zip"
    -rw-r--r-- 1 1030 1030 25696 Feb 19 2017 '/nfs/bbs/totaldos/1982/21 (1982)(PCC, Inc.) [Strategy].zip'
    ```

    Looks like error message is from SEXYZ, not Synchronet.

    What is the actual filename? Does it contain a slash?

    Ah you're probably right on it being SEXYZ.

    No, no slash. The filename is

    21 (1982)(PCC, Inc.) [Strategy].zip

    Looks like it's the brackets ([]) in the filename messing up the wildcard support (using glob).
