Title: Rice Channa Dal Payasam

1 c Rice
1/2 c Channa dal
1 tb Ghee
4 c Water
1 c Milk
1 c Brown sugar
1 c Coconut; fresh grated
1/4 ts Cardamom powder
Fry the dal in the ghee until golden brown. Bring the water to a boil
and add dal. Cook for 20 minutes. Add the rice and continue cooking
until rice is soft. Add milk and continue to cook until mixture is
thick. Add sugar and coconut and mix well. Remove from heat and add
cardamom. This is very thick when cool and will not spread on the
plate.
