• Need FidoNet Advice

From Wang Bu@VERT/JACOBCAT to All on Mon Sep 15 09:44:36 2025
Hi again! I wonder if I can still join FidoNet even though I'm coming from the Asia Region. Back then I was a member of Zone 6, but upon looking at the nodelist the zone doesn't exist anymore.

Is it still possible to join a different zone despite my location? Would like to get some advice.

    Thanks as always!

Yes, with Internet-based feeds, you can really use *anyone* as your uplink. It might be more convenient to find a zone 6 hub, but it's not strictly required.

Zone 6 is no longer in use. Zones 1-4 are the current zones.
The closest zone for asia is Zone3. (Asia/Australia-Pacific)

We have a number of asia based systems, and I have even come across one in zone1 (USA)

Reach out if you want more info etc... vk3heg@vk3heg.net or vk3heg@gmail.com

Thanks for this. It looked liked Zone 6 doesn't really exist anymore, and based on Stephen's reply I might need to inquire with Zone 3.

IIRC, Z6 no longer exists and was mostly absorbed by Z3.
