• Routers that work well wi

just the router. Thanks I am trying to break away from the 10 a month rental billing for the router. its separate on my cable bill.

I have a Netgear WNR2000 that gets the job done. Note that it is a router
only and not a cable modem. For the modem, I have a Motorola SURFboard
5101U. You will want to check and make sure that the modem is compatable
with your provider. It should be but you will want to make sure.

Here, the last time I changed a modem out, I had to contact my provider to
let them know some info (MAC ID, I think) so they could reset it on their
    end.

I do not have any experience with a modem/router combo so I cannot offer
    any advice there.

I guess this guy said something about people complaining about his ">" , which >is pure bullshit.

He had at least one message in one of the Synchronet support echoes where the whole thing, including his respsone, came out with ">" at the beginning of
each line. I don't know if anyone "complained" but at least one person,
DM, pointed it out to him and mentioned it made it difficult to figure out
what text was the poster's and what was quoted.

Sounds like he may have an issue on his end. I also got the impression he
is visual impaired which may also make it more difficult to notice (for
him) what is going on when he replies.

maybe he typed it in there by hand because that's what he thought he was supposed to do.

    also quite possible.
